The BEC wishes to promote a unique opportunity for blind and visually impaired riders to obtain a grant for education to improve their riding experience. In addition, the BEC hopes to help promote this pilot grant so that it will become permanent  and sustainable at The Dressage Foundation.

Donate directly (at The Dressage Foundation) and specify the “Blind and visually impaired rider grant”. Any amount is helpful and may be tax deductible. Feel free to contact Sarah Weiss at sara@dressagefoundation.org or (402) 434-8585.

Grants are available for visually impaired and blind riders whose best corrected vision falls within the range of legally blind to fully blind. Funding must be used for the event/training specified in the grant application. Funds are not to be used for competition.

BEC appreciates your help in several other ways:

  • Inform any blind and visually impaired riders you might know about the BEC and about the grant.

  • Encourage blind individuals to try riding as a fun and beneficial way to improve many aspects of life.

  • Encourage coaches to be open to working with blind and visually impaired riders.
